Needless to say I was quite moved by the experience of visiting Versailles. I have wanted to see Marie Antoinette's Hamlet for many years, the three quarter size village she had built just before the French Revolution, ironic really.
It was amazing to witness the sheer scale of Versailles, it's existence truly demonstrated the excesses of the French monarchy of the 18C, which embodies an aesthetic lavishness unmatched by anything else I have ever seen, and today remains as the Architectural evidence of the root cause of a Revolution.
